Omaha’s population has been diverse for centuries. Native Americans lived in the area before European settlers settled there in the late 1700s. In the late 19th century, large numbers of European immigrants and African Americans from the South moved to Omaha. This diversity led to occasional conflicts, including a lynching of an African American in 1891 and a riot that drove out a small Greek community from South Omaha in 1909. The city’s African-American population doubled between 1910 and 1920, and ethnic tensions grew during the early peace years following World War I. More – https://www.grattonwarehouse.com/

Omaha Steaks is an institution in the city, serving steaks and other meats since 1916. Omaha Steaks offers steaks, pork chops, chicken, seafood, and side dishes, along with wine and dessert. One Insider Review contributor tried a “Best of Omaha Steaks” combo, which included four pork chops, four jumbo franks, and a free seasoning packet for each cut. The meal was delicious and well-priced.
The history of music in Omaha is equally rich. Famous bands, such as the Cotton Club Boys and Lloyd Hunter’s Seranaders, originated in Omaha. Jazz greats Preston Love and Wynonie Harris came from Omaha, and there is an excellent variety of homegrown talent. The city’s long trail system provides opportunities for joggers, bikers, and walkers to get to their destinations in the most efficient way possible.
